Refreshed

Refreshed
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

1 Samuel 23:29, “Then David went up from there and dwelt in strongholds at En Gedi.”
I have been to En Gedi and it is beautiful. I totally understand why David hung out there. There’s a natural spring that flows out of the rocks and empties into the Dead Sea and it’s very refreshing. There are waterfalls, greenery and pools of water to go swimming in.
There are all these little caves where you can hide and that’s where David and his men hid at En Gedi.

I can’t help but think of Psalm 42:1-2 when David said, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”

He was out in the middle of the desert and far away from Jerusalem. Just as the deer pants for the water, David’s soul was panting to be in that relationship with God. God refreshed David in the desert and kept him safe. David wrote so many Psalms during that time.
If you’re in a desert, seek to be refreshed by God!

God said in Jeremiah 31:25, “For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”
