True Friends!

True Friends!
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

1 Samuel 20:38-41, “And Jonathan cried out after the lad, ‘Make haste, hurry, do not delay!’ now these of course are words speaking to David to get out of town. So Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows and came back to his master. But the lad did not know anything. Only Jonathan and David knew of the matter. Then Jonathan gave his weapons to his lad, and said to him, ‘Go, carry them to the city.’ As soon as the lad had gone, David arose from a place toward the south, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times. And they kissed one another; and they wept together, but David more so.”

David was so blessed by the friendship and loyalty of his best friend he wept more than Jonathan did because Jonathan not only gave him the truth about Saul’s intention to kill him and let him escape but he was also willing to step aside and let David be the next king of Israel.

This is a chapter of friendship, loyalty and the importance of faith in God trusting the Lord.
We have one as believers and his name is Jesus and he will stick closer to us than a brother like proverbs 18:24 says.

Hebrews 7:25, “Jesus lives to make intercession for us to the father”. It’s important to cry out to our true friend, Jesus, who said in John 15:15, “I no longer call you servants, but I call you friends.” Praise God for a friend like Jesus.
