1 Samuel 23:14-15, “And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand. So David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. And David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in a forest.”
It says that David stayed in the stronghold. Now the Hebrew word means a place that cannot be penetrated or hard to penetrate and the only place like this for us as believers is in God’s presence in God’s Word.
Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.
David said in Psalm 46:1-3, God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Notice how it says Saul sought him every day. We must remember the enemy of our soul Satan does the same thing to us. He seeks to devour us every day to take us out!
1 Peter 5:8 says, Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.
Luke 22:31 the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.
